When "Spider-Man" hit theaters in May 2002, it netted $114 million in its opening weekend, a box-office record. With everyone (including producers Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad) returning for the sequel, the stage is set for another mega hit.

Playing the part of Mary Jane Watson, Kirsten Dunst may seem like an overnight success story, but the twenty year old actress has been in the entertainment industry since she was three. While growing up, she appeared in dozens of commercials, landing her first movie role in Woody Allen’s "New York Stories". In 1990 Dunst appeared as Tom Hank’s daughter in the comedy "The Bonfire of the Vanities". She received her first screen kiss in 1994 from Brad Pitt when she co-starred in "Interview With the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles". Her performance as Claudia earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

Dunst has appeared in a variety of films demonstrating her versatility. The Los Angeles resident's comedies include "Bring It On", "Dick", and "Wag the Dog". Her more dramatic films include "The Cat's Meow" and "Crazy/Beautiful". Dunst plays the lead role in "Kaena: The Prophecy", scheduled for 2002. She will star along side Billy Bob Thorton and Morgan Freeman in the upcoming "Levity", set for release in 2003.

Dunst will return as Mary Jane Watson in "Spider-Man® 2", along with Tobey Maguire in the leading role. How hot will it get between MJ and Peter in the sequel? We'll find out in 2004, but, it should get hotter.
